The Work

Most of my work begins through conversations with leaders responsible for places.

The contexts below describe the ways I typically contribute.

Supporting Leaders Through the Shift

Today I support senior leaders as they navigate the transition toward place stewardship. Through speaking, facilitation, coaching and retreats, I help destination leaders build the capacity for Strategic Stewardship and Facilitative Leadership, so they can align diverse stakeholders, navigate complexity, and make decisions that serve the long-term wellbeing of the places they are responsible for.

My work typically takes place in four contexts:

Keynotes
opening conversations about the future of destinations and place leadership at conferences, summits and sector gatherings.

Facilitation
working with leadership teams, cross-agency partnerships and regional collaborations navigating complex, place-based decisions.

Coaching
one-to-one work with senior leaders grappling with the tensions between institutional mandates, political pressures and the long-term health of the places they serve.

Retreats
small, invitation-only gatherings in landscapes that invite reflection, deeper dialogue and renewed sense of direction.

Tina O'Dwyer is the Founder and CEO of The Tourism Space, a BCorp organisation offering university-accredited and CPD-certified training in sustainable and collaborative tourism.

She is an accomplished strategic facilitator, credentialed leadership coach, event moderator, off-site retreat host and keynote speaker.

Her work has included a multi-award-winning collaborative programme in the Burren & Cliffs of Moher Geopark — involving over one hundred businesses, over a dozen communities and a spread of public agencies — which demonstrated what becomes possible when tourism is genuinely shaped in service of a place.

A note on how I work

Most of my engagements begin with a conversation, sometimes prompted by a paper someone has read, a talk someone attended, or a recommendation passed quietly between colleagues.

I work with a small number of leaders and organisations at any one time. That is a deliberate choice. The work I do requires depth, trust and genuine investment in the long-term.

If something here resonates, I would be glad to hear from you.

"The question for leadership is no longer how to grow tourism.
It is how to grow the places that make tourism possible."
